- There are 3 other LCDs in the school, which are in various classes, and will rotate through the other classes as
the year progresses.
- Maryanne suggested that the school really needs Smart Boards and more LCDs for the classes.
- Maryanne's home has crashed so she had not posted anything on the Rogers blog over this last week.
- Kristen Reed apprised us of her work on the website, which is still a work in progress.

- Maryanne spoke of how the grade 4 classes were introduced to FAS (Foundation Skills Assessment) training
this week and spoke of how quickly they absorbed the information on the computers.
- 20th birthday of Rogers this upcoming Monday. There will be an assembly (all welcome). Maryanne recently
met with a committee of students to discuss what is great about Rogers and what Rogers future holds appeared
to be based around technology.
- Strawberry Vale and Wishart schools are high on the technology scale. Discussion about where Rogers is with
regards to their technology and what we need to do to bring ourselves up to date.
- Maryanne spoke of the test project last year (Digi-pals) where Ryan Nast's class and a class at Strawberry Vale
did Skype-type meetings with each other. It was a lot of work and the kids loved it.
- Kat Rainsbury asked Maryanne what her dream for the school would be. Maryanne said that she really wanted
to get Smart Boards in each of the classes and more LCDs.
- Colleen Westhaver presented the question that if the PAC funded one Smart Board, would the teacher who was
awarded it to keep in their class, would they be willing to share it with other classes. All agreed to this.
PAC Meeting Resumes at 7:16pm.
Presidents Message (Alison Hoogland) / New Business:
- Big announcement - Playground money will be refunded back to us by the BC Government. Announcement was
seen on TV for those schools who did their own fundraising, monies would be rewarded back. $24,000 will be
returned to our school.
- Bottle Drive only brought in $800 (normally we get $1200 or more) in January. Alison asked if we could put
$500 towards Bolivia. Agreed by all.
- Movie night raised $424.
- Kristin Reed asked that PAC minutes be forwarded to her to put onto the blog. Maryanne asked that she
receive these as well.
Treasurer Message (Sanci Solbakken):
- Gaming Grant has come $6,440 (non curricular spending)
- Sanci handed out account summaries and totals were discussed
- Sanci discussed how there have been a large amount of NSF cheques over the years. Asked that we could
make it policy on cheques is if families are NSF more than two times, it will be cash only payments
Motioned: Camilla Birtwistle
Seconded: Colleen Westhaver
- Concerns over the amount donated for charities etc. A lengthy conversation went around the table discussing
how the percentages are flexible but that they should be agreed upon in advance so we automatically know
who gets what when fundraising takes place.
- Colleen Westhaver mentioned the Thrifty's Smiles Cards. It's 5% of what you load your card. Last payment
received was $18 but that was for the months before Christmas. Still waiting to receive that payment which is
predicted to be a good amount.

- Naomi spoke of how Literacy week is in two weeks time. Assembly and Book Character Day have been previous
themes. This year we will have a local author come to do a presentation to the lower grades and older grades.

come to present to the grade 3-5’s.
- Various ideas were discussed. Trivia, read 10 minutes a day, Drop Everything and Read

Funding Requests:
1. Kimberly Christison has requested, via email, funding for new jerseys for the sports teams. $2,500 promised from back in June. This was approved.
2. Naomi Hazen has requested funding for both authors to come into the school with a total of $547 + $300
