6:31pm: Meeting begins
President’s Message:
- Joanne Buxton stood in as President for meeting. Alison Hoogland is absent due to family being in town.
- Fall Dance approximately $800 which was great considering we didn’t do pizza.
- Joanne read out Alison’s (President) Message - thanking people for help at the Dance as well as their help on Subway day.
Principal’s Message:
- Ms. T showed a beautiful card - a thank you - made and signed by some of the classes. (for PAC help and for librarian, Travis Ritchie, who bought about $2000 worth of books for the library.)
- School dance was a success
- Calendar - Remembrance Assembly on November 10th, everyone welcome; Pro D Day on 27th, December is a short month due to holidays - concert and PAC meeting - School reopens on 4th January - PAC bottle drive (15th of January)
- No Winter Concert this year for Grades 3-5. Sing along 17th Assembly. Run through of thing for concert and asked for helpers - pick up lights, set up lights, etc.
- Darren Laur workshop internet safety course. Would PAC be interested in representing Rogers. Ms. T is going to put our school’s name forward for course - approximately $200 to register.
- Requests for funding - has to go through staffing committee first.
- Parent complaint process - policy 1155 of Greater Victoria School Board - express concern to the person directly - info is on district webpage. PAC president also plays role of liaison for complaint process from parents.
- School Planning Counsel - organization in school - Guideline states teacher rep and 3 elected parents for each school. This year we have had 6 parents come forward who are interested in being elected. Suggested all 6 be put into the role this year as busy schedules can stop people from being involved at one meeting as well as bringing 6 people’s opinions forward. Mahia Frost shared her experiences with group.
Vice Principal’s Message:
- Naomi gave update on Enviro team - water bottles have been ordered, approximately 200. Will arrange selling them for approximately $12 and maybe will sold at lunch time and after school.
- Positive Behavior group met - playground behavior - hoping to cut down on instances on the playground - gallery walk went well all grades walked around and visited other classrooms.
- The PAC went to the computer lab to have a look at the Rogers Blog and give feedback. Great site.
Treasurer’s Report:
- Not going to print out and hand out a full report each time but anyone is welcome to see it. Sanci will just give a quick run down for this month.
- Available for allocation $13,490.00.
- Approximately $9,200 in playground fund.
- Discussed Gaming budget in detail.
- Sanci asked if PAC could approve budget -
- Ms T suggested once a month movie night - Strawberry Vale does this and makes a ton of money - wrote down dates for possible movie nights

2. Ms T requested 50 chairs + cart $1,310 (asking PAC for 50% as district should pay other 50%)

3. Mr. Nast, Mrs. Kivell and Mrs. Hazon requested funding to purchase ice cream for safety patrollers. Sanci located funding allocation for this in the budget and changed
New Business:
- Poinsettia fundraiser today runs until November 22nd. December 8th drop off date. A local grower has been chosen to purchase these from.
- Playground meeting - November 24th district, PAC members, Playground guys etc.
- Magazine fundraiser - November/early December
- Teachers Garage Sale November 20th Uplands School 10-2
- PAC supply box - Joanne wants to create her own supply box in stead of raiding the school office
- Concerns of kids playing outside during dance. Ms T suggested that more control and volunteers will be required - blocked off areas
- Kimberley Christison applied for a grant - Asked for $10,000. She had to state that she was actually a part of PAC Executive and it was voted that Kimberley is an Interim Director on the PAC.
