ROGERS PAC MEETING

Paddi Ross’ Presentation:
The PAC went up to Paddi Ross’ classroom to watch a slide show presentation that she had made as a Thank You to the PAC for helping to purchase new books for new Grade 3 classroom and classroom rug.
Request for 4 x Walkman CD players - explained how they will help with audio books in the classroom
President’s Message:
Remember that it’s all about the kids
Fundraisers for this year will be: Entertainment books, Halloween dance, movie nights, toonie hike, field trips, magazine fundraiser
Ultimate goal is to get money for playground and get it installed - hopefully by next summer
PAC likes to say yes when teachers ask for help with things for their classrooms
Principal’s Message:

Welcomed everyone back and introduced herself
September calendar - website - agenda has dates etc on them
Open House on Thursday 6:30 - 7:30. Parents and student go to gym for introductions of new staff, teachers who have changed grades etc. Meet and greet with the teachers
Request for coffee/cookies organized by PAC
Fire drills (3 in first month) last Thursday, this Friday, September 22
Library opens formally this week. Mr Ritchie returning - lots of new books
Obligation of Policy 1155 - Complaint Process - channels you go through to solve any issues
PAC spending: Staff Committee meets before Staff Meetings - policy for any purchase over $500 will go through staff Committee first to be approved before it is presented to the PAC
Treasurer’s Report:
Sanci talked about funding raised for school activities - classroom requests
hand outs (spreadsheets of where the PAC accounts are at)
government help Gaming Fund- specific spending - Sanci has to report back on exactly what money has spent on (each request will be discussed and gaming fund will be used first, if possible) non-curricular - library books, chess lessons, sea-quarium,
Two income statements from Sanci - to outline what money has been spend on and what money we have left, etc
Try to spread finances fairly amongst teachers
PAC needs help from volunteers and parents to raise the money
Currently, the PAC has approximately $12, 000 to spend
Last year’s Toonie Hikes raised $2,600
Breakdown of PAC money:
40% play ground
40% infrastructure
20% field trips

Request for Class Representatives - duties are attendance to PAC meetings, main go between teacher and PAC, collect names and emails out to class

Bottle drives for this year - October, January, May
Sandy has arranged routes and there are only a few left
Jocie Irish:
- Fruit and Veggie every 2 weeks will continue (this year will only be one serving)
New Business:
Alison suggested no more pizza day as it is a lot of work. She suggested Subway for first half of year and Boosterjuice for second half instead. All details were read out about the two new lunch place ideas. Requested that someone takes this task on.
Alison has been approached by several people, asking about Darren Laur presentation.
Mr Ritchie sent in a thank you to PAC for new books for the library. Asks for help from a couple of parents who will come in and shelve books for him- pls speak to Mrs Mumford if you can help
Entertainment books are out and have already gone home with the kids
Halloween dance - 29th October
Discussed fun raisers ideas for this year:
- There will be no craft fair this year
- Mabels Labels
- Magazine fundraiser (50% of profits go to PAC)
- Holiday Gift Emporium
- donate toys - all labelled for $1 or $2
- each kid bring $5 and shops for his/her family
- wrapping station
- Thrifty Smile Cards
- preloaded cards - 5% comes to Rogers
- Gas Cards for Co-Op
- Tupperware fundraiser
- Progressive - Shop Fund
- Request for Paddi Ross’ money request from PAC - 4 CD walkman players - $180 required
- PAC agreed to fund this request
